Nothing So Strange
is an "open source" film. While the filmmakers' final cut of the film itself is protected by an "all rights reserved" copyright, the raw footage that makes up the film is open source. Once you get your hands on some raw footage, it is yours to use as you please (as long as you credit the source of the footage--see the full license for the details). We'll be adding footage to this collection constantly, until, we hope, it's all up here.

So become a filmmaker today. We've taken care of that pesky "going out and shooting something" part of the process. Editing is where a film is really made anyway. Think Nothing So Strange director Brian Flemming missed the mark with his analysis of the Gates assassination? Show the world where he went wrong. Grab some clips, start editing, narrate it, add music, combine with your own footage--make this footage say what you want it to say. Then share your work--give it away, sell it, make a DVD and put it on eBay, BitPass a download on your own site, whatever you want. Once you buy it, it's your footage.
(NOTE: For a limited time, all of the footage, audio and music available here are FREE. And, yes, that includes the license to use them. Just use the "buy" button and get the clip for free. You won't be charged, and you don't need a BitPass yet, although you still may want to get one.)

THE ASSASSINATION

As we all know, there were two video cameras running at the time of the assassination, one from the north side of the audience (Angle 1), and one from the south (Angle 2). Here is the amateur footage at various speeds and zooms.

(Bill Gates is portrayed by Steve Sires.)

MONTAGE
A brief montage: Gates's limo arrives, he is greeted by his hosts for the ceremony, he appears on the stage, he is shot twice by a sniper. If you just want to own an edited clip of the assassination for historical purposes, this montage should do.

ANGLE ONE --  SLOW & ZOOM
The same angle slowed down more, zoomed in and enhanced with artifical stabilization (i.e., what they did with the Rodney King beating tape to make it more clear). This is by far the most clear version of the assassination, but be warned that it is also the most graphic.

RUNNING MAN

There is no more controversial aspect of the Gates assassination than the mysterious figure who has come to be called Running Man, captured on video running across 6th Street away from the scene of the assassination. This is almost certainly the same man whom Julia Serrano saw run into the Luna Sol Cafe as she was working there behind the counter. Serrano originally claimed she heard this man say, "We shot him," but she later changed her story (see "LAPD Audio" below). This is the only known video of Running Man, shot by a neighborhood resident named Maria Nix. It is grainy, amateurish and short.

LAPD AUDIO

Nothing So Strange includes about five minutes of LAPD Detective Sgt. Marty Hernandez's interrogation of Julia Serrano, the woman who claimed to reporters that she heard a man say "We shot him" while running away from the scene of the assassination. During her interrogation by Hernandez at the police station, Julia Serrano caved in and changed her story. Anyone who is concerned with the way in which police manipulate witness testimony should hear these full clips. The interrogation lasted 6 hours, but these tapes are the only record--Hernandez had control of the tape deck and turned it off at certain times. When the tape comes back on, Serrano is often heard apparently crying.

(FYI, the fictional character Julia Serrano is based on a real woman named Sandra Serrano. This sort of thing still happens today. The actor portraying Julia Serrano is Sarah Stanley. Det. Sgt. Marty Hernandez is played by Mitch Watson.)

(free sample excerpts)

PART ONE
Hernandez begins the interrogation by challenging Serrano on every detail of her recollection.
PART TWO
Hernandez tells Serrano there is no reason she needs to have a lawyer in the room with her.
PART THREE
Hernandez suggests alternate scenarios to the reality Serrano still claims she saw and heard.
PART FOUR
Serrano breaks down. Sobbing, she agrees to "compromise" with Hernandez and alter her story.

MUSIC

Yes, even the music in the movie is open source. Once you download it, it's all yours to do with as you please. Spice up your NSS "remixes" with some of these tracks. More to come.

OPENING
This is the music that kicks off Nothing So Strange and is also featured in the trailer. It was composed and recorded by director Brian Flemming. Check out the trailer to hear a  sample. Like all of the music clips here, it is in MP3 form, with no "digital rights management" or other restrictions.
"EVIDENCE DVD"
The underscore music that appears on the Citizens for Truth "Bill Gates Assassination Evidence DVD," which is an excellent compilation of (also open-source) Gates assassination and related footage. CfT graciously allowed us to offer this haunting ambient music track here.
(free sample)

"THEY SHOT HIM"
A music track that an anonymous artist created from the open-source audio of the Serrano interrogation (see above) and asked us to offer here, with the download fee going to support this open-source initiative. It's a very chilling piece. Thanks, Anonymous!
(free sample)
"DUCK & COVER"
This has nothing to do with NSS, but Brian made this "instructional dance song" from the 1951 Civil Defense film "Duck and Cover," and it's an example of what you can do with open-source cultural material ("Duck and Cover" is in the public domain). Why not try something similar with some NSS footage?
