LAPD AUDIO
Nothing So Strange includes about five minutes of LAPD Detective Sgt. Marty Hernandez's interrogation of Julia Serrano,
the woman who claimed to reporters that she heard a man say "We shot him" while running
away from the scene of the assassination. During her interrogation by
Hernandez at the Rampart police station, Julia Serrano caved in and changed her
story. Anyone who is concerned by police manipulation of
witnesses should hear these full clips. The interrogation
lasted 6 hours, but these tapes are the only record--Hernandez had
control of the tape deck and turned it off at certain times. When the
tape comes back on, Serrano is often heard apparently crying.
(The fictional character Julia Serrano is based on a real woman named Sandra Serrano. This sort of thing still happens today. The actor portraying Julia Serrano is Sarah Stanley. Det. Sgt. Marty Hernandez is played by Mitch Watson.)
